4. Install Trezor Bridge
To enable communication between your Trezor device and your computer, you need to install Trezor Bridge. Follow the instructions on the Trezor start page to download and install the software compatible with your operating system.
5. Launch Trezor Wallet
After installing Trezor Bridge, you will be prompted to open Trezor Wallet. This web-based interface allows you to manage your cryptocurrencies securely. Click “Continue” to proceed to Trezor Wallet.
6. Firmware Check and Update
The Trezor Wallet will check your device’s firmware. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to update your firmware. Keeping your firmware up to date is crucial for security and functionality.
7. Create a New Wallet
Once your firmware is up to date, you will be prompted to create a new wallet. Click “Create new” and follow the instructions. Your Trezor device will generate a recovery seed – a crucial component for recovering your wallet if you lose access.
8. Write Down Your Recovery Seed
Your Trezor device will display a 24-word recovery seed. Write down each word in the exact order on the provided recovery seed card. Double-check for accuracy and store this card in a secure, offline location. Never share your recovery seed with anyone.
9. Set a PIN
To add an extra layer of security, set a PIN for your Trezor device. Follow the instructions on your Trezor screen to choose and confirm a PIN. This PIN will be required each time you access your Trezor.
10. Adding Cryptocurrencies
With your Trezor Wallet set up, you can now add cryptocurrencies. The Trezor Wallet supports a wide range of coins and tokens. To add a specific cryptocurrency, click on “Add Account” and select the desired coin.
11. Sending and Receiving Crypto
To receive crypto, click on the account for the relevant cryptocurrency, and select “Receive.” Your Trezor Wallet will display your receiving address, which you can share with others.
To send crypto, click “Send” in the relevant account, enter the recipient’s address, and specify the amount. Confirm the transaction details on your Trezor device before finalizing the transaction.
12. Regular Backups
Regularly back up your recovery seed and store it in a secure location. Consider creating multiple copies and storing them in different places to safeguard against loss or damage.
13. Keep Firmware Updated
Always ensure your Trezor device firmware is up to date. Check for updates regularly through the Trezor Wallet interface.
14. Use Advanced Security Features
Explore Trezor’s advanced security features, such as passphrase protection and U2F (Universal 2nd Factor) for added layers of security.
